About Mabledon
In the 18th century, the estate was known simply as Quarry Hill, a quiet corner of the Kent countryside. By 1805, the vision of James Burton came to life in the elegant home we now know as Mabledon, designed by architect Joseph Parkinson. Later, Burton’s son — the celebrated Decimus Burton — added his own touch of artistry between 1829 and 1831, shaping the house and its grounds with a sense of grace and grandeur that endures to this day. Through the 19th century the estate blossomed, its parkland extending southward, creating sweeping landscapes that frame the house in natural beauty.
